Here are 10 cards that are now used in the game for every player (so you need 50 cards for 5 players etc).
Mood colours didn't change, but every color got two directions
Chaos: short sounds, high sounds
Happy: short sounds, fast
Calm: quiet, low sounds
Discipline: quiet, ostinato
Sad: slow, ostinato
The color relations also didn't change. Discipline is friends with Calm and Sad, but opposes Chaos and Happy etc.
Musically what matters is that there is a "circle playing area" (in the middle) and also every player has one's own. The circle has a scheme that shows color relations (probably in the form of the circle), and in the course of the game there will be 1 or 2 cards that direct music of every player. Player collects cards in one's own area in front and display them there, these musical directives bind the player loosely and they are ignored if they contradict the circle. The turn will pass between consecutive players. When your turn comes, you stop playing music for a moment, pick up your three cards (draw if necessary) make a play and get back to your instruments (with nice smooth and musical transitions of course ;) ).
Most basic variant
Pick a starting player, shuffle the deck and deal everyone three cards. In every turn the active player has to play one card from his/her hand before passing the turn. Playing is according to following rules that always depend on a state of cards in the circle ("itc").
0 cards itc (only at the beginning of the game in the basic variant):
|: you can put any card to the circle
1 card itc
a) if play a card of the same color as itc:
|: you collect the card you played
b) if play a card of opposing color to one itc
|: remove the card itc - your new card now stays as 1
c) if play a friendly card to one itc
|: two cards stay itc
2 cards itc
a) if play a card of the same color as itc:
|: you collect the card you played, and remove from the circle the card in the color of the card you played
b) if play a card of opposing color to both cards itc
|: discard your played card - situation on the table doesn't change
c) if play a friendly card to one of the cards itc
|: you collect the card from the circle of the opposing color to the one you played, two card stay itc
If the cards in the deck end, everyone should count their score (but the music doesn't stop):
- for every pair of same direction symbols collected you get 3 points
- count different colours you collected: you get 1/3/6/10/15 points depending on the amount of colours you have.
If you have less than 16 points total, play just to directives in the circle and only react to the events you see or hear, if nothing happens, fade out.
If you have 16 points or more you can take a leading role for the second part of the piece and hope everyone should follow you. You can also change the cards in the circle as you desire, but cooperate if there is also another person that does that. The piece will end when you stop playing as a leader and will last until you play.
phew. that's that. probably this text will be useful later when put in the library with some images for help.
