Music material that was not produced by an instrument or vocals.
Usage
The term may relate to usage of ambience sounds or employing found objects. In some contexts the name applies also to sounds that were historically produced by typical musical means for the recording, and this recording is then "found". This approach stresses the materiality of the medium and usually is connected to different, more physically direct manipulation of the sound than one typical for music production in a studio.
