Rules in writing

You need 5 players minimum, but the game works better with more, even around 20. The game needs no preparation apart from sufficient space for all to stand in a circle.

The turns are quick, more or less in rhythm, and actions are sounds or gestures. All gestures are done with hands put together and rather straight arms — some variants use the metaphor of sword fighting (double-handed, maybe a samurai katana), but hand position is more as in "prayer" or "thank you". Pick one player to start — the active player in the turn starts with hands folded above their head.

The turn:
1) Active player: bring your hands forward towards any other player you choose. Say: "Zip!".
2) Player pointed towards: put your hands (always put together) above your head. Say: "Zap!".
3) Two neighbours of a player from the point above: make a gesture towards the player from (2), pointing towards their belly. Say: "Zop!".
4) Everyone: say "Shh!".

After (4) the next turn starts immediately, the player with hands above their head, from (2), becomes the active player, picks another target,

Variants

The game is popular in improvisational theatre. Step (4) of a single turn, i.e. "Shh!", is a rather rarely used addition, but it's good for musical context as it makes the rhythm 4/4, and brings vocal warm-up to the whole group.

A quite popular rule is to have players drop out when they mess up. But, as with other games, Games for Music wiki does not endorse player elimination variants.
