This item is not in the library — it is a part of: Karaoke.
The most straightforward method of connecting pop music to games is to make Karaoke competitive. This is commonplace, either within actual contests or due to a specific spirit present in a friend group or in a venue. This plain, reproductive take on Karaoke game lies outside our library scope because it doesn't result in new music. However, but we can ensure some novelty by making it impossible to succeed (despite players doing their best). The resulting music is then in reference to the original song, but may not be very similar. Methods of achieving this include physical constraints, like e.g. playing in thick gloves, or providing an unfamiliar/unusual sound source (to be seen also on TV, e.g. on the show of Jimmy Fallon).
This kind of activity needs some Judges (as a constant function or by players changing roles) who may give "points" for the success of recreating the song despite the obstacles, or otherwise assess performers' inventiveness, style, or skill.
Alas, competition might be toxic. When facilitating this kind of game, it's important to make sure that success is not required nor expected, and participants have full acceptance of imperfections of all performances. With some groups it may be impossible, and there will be no easy shortcuts to achieve psychological safety, so in such a case, consider sticking to cooperative games.
